More than 100 civil society organizations from across Libya attended this open day, organized by UNICEF in Tripoli, where they were introduced to UNICEF programs focused in the fields of Child Protection, Education, Health, Nutrition, Youth, Water and Sanitation.
Mr. Abdel-Rahman Ghandour, UNICEF Special Representative for Libya, spoke about how UNICEF is committed to scaling-up its programs for children in Libya as UNICEF works to implement its new country program for 2019-2020. Mr. Ghandour mentioned that working in partnership with Libyan Civil Society Organizations and investing in building the capacities of all is essential to create change for children.
Mrs. Hanan Al Kadoushy, the Executive Director of Quduraty, an organization based in Sirte, which has been implementing education programs for children in partnership with UNICEF over the last year, commented on how important it is that civil society organizations partner with international organizations, such as UNICEF, because of their vast expertise in child protection. "UNICEF has lots of experience all over the world, and I hope that we benefit from it”, she added.
It is worth mentioning that the Assembly of Libyan Academics and Experts (ALAE) was present at this meeting represented by Dr. Emad Al-Gamati, member of ALAE.
